In celebration of Earth Day every April 22nd we host our Annual Clothing Swap, where our community of swappers just keeps growing! It is the perfect opportunity to wrap up some spring cleaning and trade your gently used clothes for fresh finds.
A clothing swap offers a fun and sustainable way to refresh your wardrobe AND donate within your community. Simply gather adult clothing and accessories you no longer need (old/new, any gender and any season) and bring them to exchange. You’ll be able to explore piles of treasures from other fashion-forward individuals for FREE. Heck, you don’t even have to bring anything. Just come on down! Afterwards, all unclaimed clothing will be donated within the community and we keep these textiles out of a landfill. It's fashion recycling at its best, and it’s a great way to make a positive impact!
Benefits of swapping
Swapping your clothes comes with significant environmental benefits! First and foremost, it promotes slow fashion, a movement that values quality, sustainability, and mindful consumption over the wastefulness of fast fashion. The fast fashion industry is responsible for around 10% of global carbon emissions and creates millions of tons of textile waste each year. Where your clothing ends up
At the end of each Earth Day Clothing Swap, your unclaimed items are donated to Homebase, a Minneapolis-based organization dedicated to providing clothing and essential goods to people experiencing homelessness year-round. By partnering with Homebase, we ensure that all unclaimed clothing from the swap goes to those in need, extending the life of every item while supporting our local community. This collaboration aims to contribute to the fundamentals of Earth Day not only reducing waste but also making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals in the Twin Cities.
